Biography

Dallas Duane Heninger was born April 3, 1995, in Pierre, South Dakota to Vickie Heninger. In his early years, Dallas attended both Buchannan and Jefferson elementary schools and went to Georgia Morris middle school until the seventh grade. In 2007, Dallas transferred to Fort Pierre where he became a Stanley County Buffalo. This coming May, Dallas would have graduated with the class of 2013.
During his childhood, Dallas was very active. He participated in activities such as soccer, wrestling, football, baseball, 4-H, and Boy Scouts. One of the most memorable moments was winning the National AAU Tournament in Rapid City. Although he enjoyed all of these things, his true passion lied within rodeo and his favorite event was bull riding. A few of his bull riding accomplishments included multiple trips to the South Dakota 4-H Finals, High School Finals, NBRT Young Guns Finals, and the TPBR Finals. Outside of gym and arena sports, Dallas enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting with family and friends.
On January 4, 2011, Dallas and Vanzi Knippling were blessed with a beautiful baby boy, Ryatt Dean. Although their time together was short, Dallas loved his son with all of his heart and enjoyed every moment they spent together. Some of their best memories the pair shared involved spending their summers at various rodeos throughout the state. At the young age of two, Ryatt already shares the same passion for rodeo that his father always had.
Along with being a loving father, Dallas was a devoted son, brother and friend. He cherished his family and many friends along with all of the memories made throughout his seventeen years of life. Dallas, his mother and his brother, Derrick, had a very special bond that no one could ever replace. They shared a great amount of love, laughs and memories with each other over the years.
Dallas began his courageous battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma in April of 2012. After fighting this disease with a great amount of strength and bravery for ten months, Dallas passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Pierre, surrounded by his loving friends and family, on February 23, 2013.
Blessed for having him in their lives, Dallas is survived by his son, Ryatt, his mother, Vickie, his brother, Derrick (LoRetta), his neice, Parker, his father, Darin Styles, his grandparents, Karen Hoyt and Jim Hoyt, and special friend, Kendra Karst. He is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends. Dallas is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alice and Duane Heninger.
